“They’re museum pieces, but go ahead and wear them!” (Maria Pezzi, “Il Giorno”, 1979).
It is the opening sentence of the exhibition more colorful that my senses have ever known. “MISSONI, THE ART, THE COLOR” will occupy the rooms of the MA *GA in Gallarate until January 24, 2016. Curated by Luciano Caramel, Luca Missoni and Emma Zanella, it is a project by the City of Gallarate, MA * GA Museum and Missoni Archive, with the special patronage of the EXPO.
Because Missoni, “the master of color” according to Balthus, was really an artist in the strict sense of the word.

Tai and Rosita were married in 1953, the same year they opened a small knitwear factory in Gallarate. Since that time, Missoni has made them of all colors.
When in the early twentieth the cultural barriers dividing art and fashion were overcome, “gender trespassing” were the two manifestos that Futurism dedicated to fashion; waistcoats by Giacomo Balla; the link between Picasso and theatre fashion along with many great artists such as Braque, Goncharova and Matisse; the pleated fabric by Mariano Fortuny; the collaboration between the Flöge tailoring of Wien and Gustav Klimt; Schiaparelli who chooses to work with Dalì and Man Ray

The representatives of the historical avant-gardes of the early twentieth century, such as Louise Bourgeois, Marisa Merz and Maria Lai, produce fabrics and embroideries showing their link with the thread; in the seventies Alighiero Boetti is weaving its carpets from weavers in Afghanistan; between the fifties and eighties Ottavio and Rosita Missoni deal with the Italian visual culture. The art of Missoni adds new words and turns into a language that Emma Zanella defines “liquid”.Eloisa Reverie Vezzosi, MA*GA, Missoni

Along with Joseph Delteil, “I sing the cloth” and dedicate my ode to Missoni.
I start to vault in the hall area in front of the “Dancer” by Gino Severini and go further to the “Rhythm” by Osvaldo Licini, I find the dynamic “Linee forza mare” (“Lines sea power”) by Balla and his “Spatial Lines” show me the surreal forms of Klee and Kandinsky .
Investigating these “roots,” I find many “Compositions”, like those of Manilo Rho, Mauro Reggiani, César Domela, Carla Accardi, Enrico Prampolini, Gillo Dorfles. They are suggestions and in the distance I hear the chants echos: it is the “Mermaid with horse” by Lucio Fontana that attracts me to her. Eloisa Reverie Vezzosi, MA*GA, Missoni

Purple, red, green, yellow, white, white, white, white, magenta … are they color or continuations of my body? I am surrounded by a forest of trees made of light. There appear in front of my eyes over 100 still figures dressed in white of the iconic pieces of the maison. It is the army of the “Blue Rider of Monaco”? It is the “Theory” of Goethe materialized?

To open the dance is the “Untitled” by Tai of 1973. I am hypnotized by the undulating movement of the “Snake” by Piero Dorazio. And I find myself in the green garden of blue trees and orange steps Giulio Turcato (“Composition”).

If I should represent the “negative-positive” I would not use the same tones of Bruno Munari. Maybe I would choose white as the “White Plastic 1” by Alberto Burri, perhaps pink as “A. 158” by Claudio Verna, maybe black as the” Continent memory “of Gottardo Ortelli, or blue as the “Sky” by Ennio Bertrand?

For this new alphabet, the form of expression permitted is no longer the writing but, since the early seventies, the tapestries, as shown by the celebratory installation of this tape art that Luca Missoni and Angelo Jelmini have devoutly made.
But why the “master of color” only realizes “Untitled”?
