86.400 are the seconds of a day. It’s the time that I have given to me to get to, to synthesize and to separate me again from “Figurative geometry” of Maramotti Collection.

POSTULATE: The exhibition, “Figurative Geometry”, includes works by nine artists that you can think represent an abstraction or, inversely, abstract from a representation.

Sadie Benning, Alex Brown, Mamie Holst, Chip Hughes, Xylor Jane, Robert Janitz, Ulrike Müller, Nicolas Roggy, Richard Tinkler, the nine artists are-not-just-painters.

I had already lived the Art Collection for its  “Industriale Immaginario”, for its “Purpose”for its “Max Mara Art Prize for Women in collaboration with Whitchapel Gallery” and for the collaboration with the Atelier dell’ErroreBut also this time it was important to start from the beginning to the discovery of a new depth.

“Swaz” can mean everything or nothing. It is the title of the first work I meet in the exhibit: perfectly central to the perspective given by the front door.

Sadie Benning leaves the viewer with the magic of storytelling, of making sense of the work by composing its meaning over the white of the canvas and with what appears to me as a Greek cross in red, in the making. “Stand”, the artist order to me and I remain motionless, sphere, point.

Only to find then the incessant movement of the waves “Untitled” by Nicolas Roggy: : there is (at least one) planet made of acrylic paint and pigments on aluminum.

At every step, corresponds a note: so I imagine the four times in vitrified enamel on steel by Ulrike Müller. “Others” are the Others in small size, are part of the non-only-paintings that are not limited to canvas and brush. Leaf, heart, tip, flaps: whatever.

Time eroded comes together: the contrast inside is in “Béla”..

If four were the notes with the omission of three, Richard Tinkler re-sequences all: “Book Four Volume Three Page Thirty One”, “Book Four Volume Three Page Twenty”, “Volume One Book Five Page Thirty Seven” … pieces of an artistic DNA that projects in the space geometries, which sometimes rotate as fleeing spirals, sometimes follow new and personal way.

Tinkler realizes each painting in a single a day. 86.400 seconds.

As to the second zero, the orderly harmony of the world was in a primitive state of implosion, so “Blue’s Blue” by Chip Hughes incorporates in its monochrome the afterimages.

We all know what color are the dreams, projections and fantasies but what about thoughts? Mamie Holst reflects in black and white and gray.
“Landscape Before Dying” casts me into another dimension. The artist imagines the time of death, which no equation will ever be able to identify.
not exist.

Once captured, it is “The common ground of large hopes” by Robert Janitz to hold and comfort me.

Oil, wax, flour on linen : it is a picture of gestures. I perceive his not-only-painting in the processuality of a daily life.

At the same time, “The Merry Widow is an Operetta” is a lyrical work. His brushwork evokes Roy Lichtenstein in a musical reference. Echo. Echo. Echo. Echo. Echoooooo …

And all resound.
